Oh, look at the beautiful pressie my crafty colleague gave me - Modern Needlecraft. Title's a bit out of date though, methinks!
I had to share this with you - the book was printed in 1934 and contains some really cute techniques for everything from cross stitch to making a bag to childrens party dresses. I haven't read it in too much depth - there were pretty pictures!
So many pretty pictures and inspiration!

| Not many ladies make their own bags these days! |
 |
| Bunny embroidery! On a cardigan! I am so doing this! |

| This would have been a darling party dress |
 |
| It's official! I need an apron with geese on it |
I could post on and on... that would take a lot of space and use up your internet data. I'm going to try and incorporate some of the techniques into my future projects and I'll detail them more when I do. That could be fun, and I need the handbag above in my life too...
As for sewing, I've struggled with energy and attention spans of late, but did with some guiding help and company from Mama Gypsy make Buster a bed!

I'm doing a bit of refurbishing/ homemaking by covering the matching cushions of our very red lounge suite, and had to make Buster's to match! He loves it too, what a which is good!
What a fabulous book!! I'd love to see more. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd, bunnies on a cardigan? Fabulous!!
I'll bring it along to our next meet, it's stuffed with awesome ideas!
DeleteEven the design on the front cover of the book is gorgeous! I've resisted collecitng any old sewing/craft books so far but they are so tempting when they're as pretty as this!
ReplyDeleteBuster's looking mighty happy in his new bed!
You know, I never thought that I would end up collecting vintage, but then last year happened and before I knew it I had a great big pile of stuff!
DeleteYou lucky thing! Looks awesome :)
ReplyDeleteYou lucky duck; what a wonderful book!
ReplyDeleteBuster totally looks like he is smiling.
What a lovely cushion for Buster!! I can see that Buster may get very spoilt, so have a look at Martha Stewart's web site for some great ideas for making things for your pets. She loves dogs and she has some great free patterns for winter coats. I love that Modern sewing book; it will be fun to read it.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, Buster! He looks so happy on his bed!
